Obituary of Helen Abramson Peters

Chapel Hill - Mrs. Helen Abramson Peters was born January 30, 1927 and died May 25,2012 at dawn when the birds started singing. She was 85 years old and a resident of Chapel Hill, NC for 42 years. She passed peacefully in her home. Her passion was English bobbin lace making. She was a teacher and homemaker. She graduated from Ohio State University with a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling. Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Peters and her parents Abraham and Gertrude Abramson. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila and her husband James and their children Shannon and Jason Barnett of Walkerton, VA; son Colin Peters and his wife Erica Ernst of Chicago, and by a former daughter-in-law Sarah Kelder and Colin and Sarah's son Thibaut of Bowling Brook, Ill. Mrs. Peters is also survived by her brothers and their wives and children; Donald and Joan Abramson and their daughter Lori and Lee and Audrey Abramson and their children Janet and Marc. Colin and Sheila are grateful for the loving care that was provided to their mom by Raquel Pena and Pastor and Alex Sibrian. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UNC Robert W. Peters Fund. Graveside will be on June 2 at 1 p.m. at Shepherd's United Methodist Church, 163 Fleets Mill Road, St. Stephens Church, VA.
