Obituary of Nancy Carson Lloyd

Nancy was born on January 9, 1938 to Lois and Hubert (Jotta) Carson. Their only child, she grew up in the historic Ray house on Weaver Street in Carrboro, NC. She was smitten with Kermit Lloyd in elementary school. They started dating in their teens. She graduated from Chapel Hill High, then they were married in 1957 at Carrboro Baptist Church. Kermit joined the Air Force; they spent most of his tour of duty in Hampton VA.

Most of her adult life was spent in the countryside just west of Chapel Hill, where they ran KM Lloyd General Merchandise, and raised their 3 children, Sarah, Alvin, and Tom (Bingo).

Nancy had a lifelong love of cats, particularly Josey, Boo-Boo, George, Rowdy and Possum, giving her much joy over the years.

Nancy passed away on June 30 after a short illness, a little over a year after Kermit’s death. She is survived by daughter Sarah Gains in Mebane NC, sons Alvin (Alisa) in Newport News VA, and Tom in Haw River NC, and granddaughter Allison Wilkes (Chris), their children CJ and Emily, and granddaughter Ashley, and lifelong friends Pat and Gordon Neville.

Funeral services will be at Antioch Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC on Sunday, July 21,2024 at 2:00 PM.
