Obituary of Dennis Raymond Hall

Please share a memory of Dennis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dennis "Denny" Raymond Hall, 76, of Cedar Grove, passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 20th, 2024 after a brief stay at Duke Hospital.

Denny was born on December 25th, 1947 to the late Billie Austin Hall and Margaret Hall nee Brinker in New Brighton, Pennsylvania.  Denny graduated from New Brighton High School, enlisted in the Marines and completed a tour in Vietnam during which he was wounded in action, recovered and subsequently honorably discharged.  Denny was allocated a Purple Heart for his service but deferred the distinction in honor of his compatriots that never made it home from the war as he did.  This deepseated sense of honor, valor, and duty echoed throughout Denny's life and he kept true to "Never Forget" all his days.

Denny married his love, Carol Ann Rankin in Oil City, Pennsylvania in 1980 and they relocated to North Carolina in 1985 in the hopes of improving their prospects and giving themselves a fresh start.  Denny was a loving, funny and warm husband to Carol and the proud father of three sons and a daughter.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol and his sons, Dennis Raymond Hall, Jr. of PA, Eric Austin Hall (Kamilla) of PA, Wallace "Joey" Tarr III (Muberra, widower) of NC, daughter Brandy Marie Hall (Eric) of NC, and Denny's sister Nancy Johnson along with her three sons Joseph Johnson, Robert Johnson.  Denny was also the proud PapPap of five grandchildren, Austin Wayne and Dylan Thomas Newton, Clarissa Carol Nievas, and Matthew Arda and Nathan Kaan Tarr.  Denny was preceded in death by his parents Billie and Margaret Hall, and his nephew Brian Coon.

Denny's relentless devotion to his famiy as well as the steadfast and unflinching friendship he offered to so many in the community will long serve as a legacy to his memory and a life well lived.  He forged a successful path and supported his family as the owner of Hall's Portable Welding Business for many many years and was an avid hunter of both game (when in season) and a good bargin (literally any time).  Denny's remarkable wit and unmistakeable sense of humor never failed to bring joy and a chuckle to all those that he encountered.  As solid a man as there ever was, Denny's absence will be missed in every conceivable way every single day.  Memorial services will be handled by Walker's Funeral Home and friends and family will be received to celebrate Denny's life at Cedar Grove UMC on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 6:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Trisomy 9 International Parent Support (9TIPS), an organization Denny felt strongly inclined towards.

"Better than honor and glory, and History's iron pen, Was the thought of duty done and the love of his fellow-men." - Richard Watson Gilder

Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough is honored to serve the Hall family.
