Landon Overton

Obituary of Landon Ryan Overton

Please share a memory of Landon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Landon was 22 years old when he went home to be with The Lord Sunday, May 5, 2024 while living in Wilmington, NC. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC on August 16, 2001 to Bryan and Mechele Overton.

Landon grew up in church (Kerwin Baptist) where he was very active with his youth group. He loved playing basketball from a young age of 4 where his dad was somehow involved in coaching him. He played Soccer and Baseball as well for a short time for his dad. After high school, he attended High Point University and Guilford Technical Community College. He had plans to follow in his father’s footsteps and to enlist in the United States Navy this Fall. Landon loved God, was devoted to his faith and attended Port City Community Church/Overflow in Wilmington, NC. He had a unique and very close relationship with his mother, The Boyz and friends who loved him very much. Landon treated everyone with respect and kindness. He was easy going, kind, thoughtful, was faithful, funny and of course, loved his physique. Working out, eating clean and running has been a passion of his for some time now and he trained really hard for his first half marathon that he finished a couple of weeks ago. He was so proud of himself for this accomplishment as we all were.

After his father Bryan passed in 2022, he proudly stepped into being the man of the house and rock for his mom, helping wherever she needed him. Landon was proceeded in death by his father, Bryan, and Pop, Marvin. He is survived by his mother Mechele Leggington Overton, his grandmothers Alice “Faye” Overton, Lydia Denton and spouse Dee, and Lisa Leggington, The Boyz; Gavin, Braylen, Wes, Jackson and his sisters in Christ, Caitlyn and Fleming, Wilmington boys; Marlon and Brady.

Isaiah 41:10-13 ”So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Landon lived life to these verses.

Thank you to all whom have reached out and a big thank you to Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough who has been assisting the family. It is by God’s grace that we have felt the prayers and love for those who were in Landon’s life.

The family will have a private service May 13, 2024 1pm graveside at Little River Presbyterian Church 4211 Little River Church Rd. Hurdle Mills, NC.
