Obituary of Cynthia L. Hicks

Cindy Lee Hicks passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at UNC Hospitals.

Cindy was born to Bill and Helen Gates of Chapel Hill where she was raised with her three brothers at the corner of Neville Road and Highway 54 West.

Cindy and her husband, David built a home next to her parents twenty five years ago where they raised their family.  She enjoyed cooking, shopping and being a homemaker. Cindy loved music and was a huge fan of Bryan Adams.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Gates; her mother, Helen Gates; and two of her brothers, Kent and Billy Gates.

Those left behind to cherish her memories are David, her husband of 40 years; two sons Shannon  (Chanita) and Brad (Carli), six grandchildren and her furkid, Rusty.  She is also survived by her brother, Ronnie Gates. (Shirley) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 13th  at
