Jean Duffy Stancell, 96, of Chapel Hill, NC passed away January 3, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Stancell; her parents, Frank and Miriam Duffy; her brother, Richard Duffy; and her stepmother, Mary Duffy.
Jean is survived by her brother, Wayne Duffy and wife Patricia; her nephews, David Duffy and wife Nancy; Dale Duffy and Christie Duffy; and grand nieces, Madeline and Morgan Duffy.
Jean was raised in Troutville, VA, and graduated from Troutville High School. She was a graduate from Duke University. After graduation from Duke, she married and remained in Chapel Hill. Jean was the owner of a dress shop, The Little Shop, for many years. Jean and Charlie owned a home in Emerald Isle, NC, which they loved and enjoyed. She continued visiting Emerald Isle often; and with family.
Jean moved to Falcon Ridge, on the lake, where she met her good friend, Mary Sexton. In later years, she moved to The Cedars; and eventually to the Dubose Health Center.
The family extends many thanks to her friends, and those who cared for her at the DuBose Health Center; and finally, AuthoraCare.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 1:00pm with a visitation beginning one hour prior at Walker's Funeral Home, 204 N. Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278; with Denise Waters officiating.
Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough is assisting the family.
