Obituary of Virginia Ann Dodson
Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Virginia Ann Dodson, age 89, of Wilmington (though a longtime Mebane resident), passed away on December 28, 2023, with her daughters by her side.
She was born June 18, 1934, in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late Willie and Mary Knight.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George Donald Dodson, and two sons; Mark Dodson (infant) and Steve Dodson. Virginia had many other family members she loved who have also gone before her.
She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church of Mebane. Virginia was looking forward to the day her faith in Christ would become sight and she would see Him face to face and also be reunited with those she loved.
Virginia retired from Collin’s and Aikman and then was employed with Walker's Funeral Home for several years.
Virginia enjoyed loving and caring for people but her favorite was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and anyone was welcome at her table. Virginia loved her plants, especially her rose bushes. She could grow anything.
Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Donna Dodson of Wilmington, and June Dodson of Campbellsvillle, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Christie Doss and husband Jay of Snow Camp, Brandon Dunn and wife Terri of Mebane and Mark Dodson of Wilmington, four great grandchildren, Jordan (Frank), Kayla, Logan (Reeci), and Payton, four great great grandchildren, Hudsyn, Brynlee, Lilliana and Declan. Virginia also had a special place in her heart for her nephews Rick Moore and great nephew Tyler Moore, and nephew Kenneth Knight. She leaves behind many other family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to invite you to celebrate her life on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane, North Carolina at 1:00pm. The family requests that you come as you are (casual), as this is how Virginia would have welcomed all.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and condolences during this time
