Susan and my father were first cousins. I have early memories of her when my family visited her parents in Hamlet. Even at a young age, it was easy for me to realize what a kind, pleasant soul she was. She was ALWAYS smiling. Over the years she made a few trips to visit us in Florida, first with John, and later with John and Jordan. We were excited to have them come to visit; we enjoyed the company so much. Those are happy memories for me.
As the years passed, we didn’t have the opportunity to visit with her. But she kept in touch with my father, never failing to send him birthday cards, Christmas cards, or even a note at Easter. She was special to my dad. Fortunately, over the last few years we reconnected. We had long conversations about current events, family history, and day to day happenings including Bentley’s antics. She was especially proud of becoming a grandmother and shared many stories.
Jordan, Fred, and families, I am truly sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts.
