Doris Christine Gates Dodson

Doris Christine Gates Dodson passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the age of 87.

Preceded in death by her husband, William Fulton Dodson and her parents, Andy Griffin Gates and Christine Hall Gates. Surviving are her children: Cathy Bivins (Doug) of Statesville, Jimmy Dodson (Pam) of Hillsborough, and Johnny Dodson (Kim) of Mebane.

Grandchildren: Paula Hamilton (Todd), Andy Bivins (Naomi), Lisa Marie Stevens (Tyler), Christy Sherlin (Charles), Matt Dodson (Mara), and 10 Great Grandchildren. Brother: Griffin Gates of Caldwell and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was the loving wife of William for 63 years, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and was loved by all her family, friends and coworkers. She taught the difference between right and wrong, giving and receiving and to recognize and appreciate God’s gifts. She will be remembered for her love, laughter, smile, generosity and guidance.

Tha family will gather at the home of William and Doris Dodson, 611 Orange High School Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

Visitation will be held at Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 12 – 2:00pm. Funeral will follow the visitation and begin at 2:00pm with the burial to be held in Hillsborough Town Cemetery following the service.

Pallbearers will be Charles Sherlin, Matt Dodson, Andy Gates, Tyler Stevens, Todd Hamilton and Andy Bivins.
