Obituary of Steven Monroe

Steven Monroe, 68, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, after a short but valiant battle with Melanoma.  Family surrounded his bedside as he was ushered into Valhalla.

He spent his childhood in Alfred, NY, lived many years in Hawthorne, NJ, until he settled in Chapel Hill, NC.

Steve led an amazing life, spending his youth traveling the U.S. extensively as a truck driver.  In later years, he founded a company with his siblings that grew from a small business to a nationwide corporation now known as Mindpath.  He worked hard, played hard, and lived hard. 

He is survived by many loved ones: his adoring wife, Deborah Jackson; his devoted daughter, Merilee, as well as his honorary daughters, Elizabeth and Blair; his cherished and favorite aunt Marilyn; his best friend and little brother, Stan; his loving sister Yvonne and parents Eugene and Marilyn.

A viewing will be held Saturday July 27 at Walker’s Funeral Home from 2pm – 4pm, with a memorial to follow on Labor Day weekend.

Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill is assisting the family.
