Obituary of Dorothy Johnston

    Dorothy Arceneaux Johnston born in Lafayette, LA on April 9, 1934 to Fabian Arceneaux and Annie Richard Arceneaux left this world on July 18, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Karl Arceneaux, and her husband of 54 years, Thomas D. Johnston.

    She is survived by her daughter Sharon J. Martin of Cary, NC and husband Marty, and sons, Thomas D. Johnston, Jr. of New Orleans, LA and wife Yvette and Stephen C. Johnston of Atlanta, GA; her sisters Gayle Witherwax and Joyce Arceneaux of Rayne, LA, and sister-inlaw Carolyn Arceneaux of Fort Worth, TX. 

    Dorothy graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in Lafayette, LA and Louisiana University of Lafayette, LA (Southwestern Louisiana). After college she worked for Humble Oil & Refining Co. (Exxon-Mobile) in Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA. She left the working world to become a wife and mother.

    A grave side service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at the Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
