I did my Neurology residency under Dr. Bell. He was the most knowledgeable and smart person I have ever met. He was always very friendly, helpful and kind human being. It was a privilege to have him as my teacher and mentor. He was the best. I will remember and miss him for rest of my life.
I was a pediatric resident at the University of Iowa from 1986-1989. I was fortunate to have Dr. Bell as an educator. He was one of the most knowledgeable persons I have ever met. To tell the truth, I was more than a little intimidated by him given the large gap in our medical prowess. However, he was kind, gentle and very generous with his time. I always appreciated his dedication in attending morning report and sharing his insightful comments and suggestions about cases. It was like everyone else babbled and then Dr. Bell would provide the definitive information one needed to know or the diagnosis evading everyone else. I am sorry to hear of his passing and want to express my sympathy to Gail and to the rest of his family. He was a treasure. Charles Jennissen
