Jo’s career was one dedicated to service. A graduate of Pfeiffer College (B.A.), she taught English as a second language in Thailand, after which she attended UNC-Chapel Hill (M.Ed.). After retiring from the Developmental Disabilities Section of Orange-Person-Chatham Mental Health, she turned a volunteer position at the Women’s Shelter of the Interfaith Council for Social Service into a part-time job.
Jo’s creativity was expressed in her nonwork interests. She was skilled at fabric arts, including quilting. She developed a side business as a dealer of antique jewelry, also upcycling and creating jewelry.
