Obituary of Sang Sun Males

Sang Sun Males, died Monday, June 19th, 2023, at the Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care in Pittsboro, NC. She was 80 years old.

A lifelong caregiver, who loved to be of service to others, , “Sue” was born in 1942 in Taegu, South Korea.

She was a child during The Korean War and lost her father to throat cancer at a young age. She, along with her two brothers, one sister, and loving mother persevered during this time. She met and married Joseph John Males, III, her soulmate and partner for life and had one daughter, Lee Ann.

She left her home country for the United States and made it her new home. Not knowing the language very well, traveling to a strange country, she moved often with her family, but made every place a warm and loving home.

She was a natural gardener, a testament to her caring nature, and an excellent cook, nurturing the souls of all that were welcomed into her home.

Sue and Jack settled in the Melbourne, Florida area in the late 1980’s and made this their retirement haven.

A member of the First Korean Baptist Church of Melbourne, FL, she was involved and cared for and cared by her congregation.

In addition to her daughter Lee and Lee’s husband Bob Droog , Sue is mourned by 4 beautiful grandchildren, Alex Tedford, Jack Droog, William Droog, and Isabella Droog, and her two great-grandchildren, Salem and Jett. She is proceeded in death by her husband, “Jack”, in 2014, her mother, and oldest brother.
