Obituary of Mary Rebecca Dickey

Mary Rebecca Tapp Dickey “Becky”, 79, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully at Alamance Regional Hospital on June 14, 2023 after a few weeks of declining health.

Becky was born on August 7, 1943 in Orange County to the late Homer Ruffin Tapp and Margaret Christine Van Vynckt Tapp.

Becky graduated from Hillsborough High School and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 37 years before her retirement.

She enjoyed gardening and loved music and dancing.

Becky is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Dickey, Sr. and sister, Margaret Tapp.

Surviving are her son, John E. Dickey, Jr.; daughter, Wendy Shelley; brothers, Jack Tapp, Jimmy Tapp, David Tapp and Andy Tapp; four grandchildren  and five great grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service for the Family.

Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough is assisting the Family.
