Obituary of Priscilla Ellington McFarland

Priscilla Ellington McFarland, 91 of Sanford (formerly of Carrboro, NC) passed away at Central Carolina Hospital on Friday, June 2, 2023.  Priscilla was born in Carrboro on December 8, 1931 to Carl McKinley and Beulah Dillehay Ellington. 

 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 11:00 AM at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro, NC.

 

Priscilla graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1948 and attended Durham Business School.  She worked for the University of North Carolina Sociology Department, retiring after 22 years of service in 1994.  Priscilla was a long-time member of Carrboro Baptist Church and in her later years a member of Carrboro United Methodist Church.

 

Priscilla is survived by her children:  Tom McFarland (Anna), Beth Little (Freddie), Julia Robinson, Jane Crewse (Britt); grandchildren: Carl McFarland, Meaghan McFarland, Wes Little (Meagan), Elizabeth Wilson (Jeffrey), Katherine Matthews (Drake), James “Mac” Robinson, Margaret “Maggie” Robinson, Meredith Stoessner (Jeremy), Shelby Bailey, Alexis Crewse, and Zachary Crewse; great-grandchldren: Carter Little, Dawson Little, and Miller Wilson; brother: Richard Ellington (Alice), and several nieces and nephews. Priscilla was predeceased by her parents: Carl and Beulah Ellington, husband of 69 years: Harold McFarland, son-in law, Chester Robinson, and brother: Boyd McKinley Ellington. 

 

Priscilla loved her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She loved doing needlework and flower arranging.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Goldston Methodist Church Men’s Group Food Pantry.  (P.O.
