Obituary of Russell Patrick Shores

Russell “Russ” Patrick Shores passed away in his sleep on March 8th, 2023 in Chapel Hill, NC. He was 69.
Russell was born on January 27th, 1954 in Rockford Illinois, son to Catherine Mary Buird and Russell Elmer Shores. After moving to Florida with his family, Russ graduated from Clearwater High School in 1972 and then served as a medic with the 82nd Airborne. He attended the University of Florida, where he met and married Carol Getker Shores. Together they moved to North Carolina in 1982 and built a life including having two sons, Jason Patrick Shores and Robin James Shores. Russell became a successful local businessman, first as the founder of Endeavour Construction and later as a partner of Endeavour Fabrication Group.
Russell was energetic, outgoing, gregarious, and always looking to help however he could. His passions for travel, fishing, SCUBA diving, good food, good drinks, and good times were shared by his friends and family. Always motivated, Russ was constantly looking for ways to improve things, and spent countless hours working on assorted projects. Indeed his home has been under continual renovation for 27 years!
Russell is survived by his sons Jason and Robin, their partners Rachael and Britt, of Erlangen DE and Chapel Hill NC respectively. He is also survived by his former wife, Carol of St. Croix VI, and his sisters Patricia Alterio of Odessa FL and Sandra Staskal of Clearwater FL.
According to his wishes, Russell has been cremated and in lieu of a service, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 6th at 2:00 PM in Chapel Hill NC.
