Obituary of Robert Samuel Wilson

Robert “Bob” Samuel Wilson, better known as “Hoot” or “Papa Bob” passed away on Wednesday March 1st, 2023, at the age of 90. Bob was born on September 2nd, 1932 to Winder and Laylon Wilson. He was the youngest of four children and is survived by his sister, Louise Ball of Hillsborough.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Serena Blake Wilson, Brother Roy Wilson and Sister Edna Watkins. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
He was born and raised in Hillsborough, North Carolina where he attended Walter Williams High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, Tank Company 34th Infantry Regiment APO 24 where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal and received an honorable discharge.
To know Bob was to love him. He was always full of life and had a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He could make you smile even on your worst day. Bob was known for his amazing chocolate pies, his love for horses, and his love for his wife Serena Blake Wilson. He was a good man that was known and loved by many and leaves behind many fond memories and great stories. He had such a big heart and did not hesitate to help others.
There will be a visitation held at Mars Hill Baptist Church on Friday, March 3rd at 1pm followed by the funeral also at Mars Hill Baptist Church on Friday, March 3rd at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to AuthoraCare Collective.
