My father, Tom Watson, brother to Barbara Ann Watson Strowd, and my mother, Myrene Watson, went to NC for a visit and I, Adele Watson, was along on the trip. Somehow, our conversation led to Uncle Elvin talking about playing the French Horn in the service band (at least that's the way I remember it) and he said the next thing he knew they handed him an Army Bugle (and some kind of weapon, I'm sure. I don't think the enemy would have been damaged too much by a bugle!) and shipped him off to North Africa. For some reason he had come home with two bugles and brought them out to show us. I played trumpet in my HS band and put both the bugles to my lips and blew both at the same time and in harmony! Uncle Elvin rewarded me by giving me one of the bugles and I treasure that!
