Obituary of Kelly Marvin "Butch" Davis, Jr.

Mr. Kelly Marvin “Butch” Davis, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Hillsborough, NC on December 5th, 2022. He was 70.
Kelly was born in Orange County, NC to the late Kelly Marvin Davis, Sr., and Erma Lucas Davis. He attended school in Hillsborough and worked as a certified mechanic before becoming the manager of Kenan Properties in Chapel Hill for 40 years.
Mr. Davis was a lifelong musician, and was a skilled drummer and singer. He travelled all over NC in his youth performing in rock bands, including Kelly and the Krybabeez and The BlackJacks. Over his lifetime he also gardened, farmed livestock, rescued beagles and wildlife, and renovated bicycles for children. Butch was a well-known local in the Hillsborough community, and was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter, Dr. Imogene Cancellare and son-in-law Mark Cancellare. He is also survived by his nephews Albert Victor Reed, Jr. (Cheryl), David Reed (Charlotte), and Michael Andrew Reed (Sarah), and their families, and brother-in-law Albert Reed, Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Betty Reed.
Mr. Davis will be buried in a private ceremony in the Hillsborough Town Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Our Wild Neighbors, a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation center located in Hillsborough (ourwildneighbors.org).
