Wayne was such a kind person and a friend to everyone he met. Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Wayne a few years he quickly became a mentor to me and spoke to me of his love for his church, his wife, his extended family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. I learned quite a lot about life in observing him when I had the benefit of being around him. He possessed tremendous wisdom and humility. He was kind to a fault, and it was evident that he loved his Lord, and the church. Like many, I was saddened to learn that he was gone and that I would no longer be able to call him and ask for his wisdom. In three short years he treated me as a son, as I am sure he did with many. After my father's passing, I looked to him for the wisdom I usually sought from my father, and he never let me down. He would always sign off with his traditional parting comment, "be good," and that's exactly what he did, and was. If I may, Wayne, I will carry on this tradition, in your honor, and to remind me of your words and encouragement in life. Thank you for being good, and doing good, and spreading good wherever you went and to everyone you met. And now, my friend, my mentor; I bid you farewell. Be good.

Mr. Doby was my patient at the Walmart pharmacy before my retirement in 2020. He appeared to be a very good man, soft-spoken, and very kind. I am thinking of all of you at this time.Vicky Arrington, Burlington

Gloria and Family,
We were so shocked and saddened to hear the news on Monday and even more so to learn of Wayne’s passing. Wayne was a friend to so many and we became acquainted with him through Tammie and Lynwood at church. We, like so many, can attest to Wayne’s kindness and also his generosity toward the work of God. Outside of church, Wayne became a good friend and hunting buddy to Don. His absence will be deeply felt by the many lives he touched while here on earth.
With deepest condolences, love and prayers,
Laurie and Don Wood

Gloria and Family, I am terribly sorry about the loss of Wayne. He was the kindest, most generous man I ever met. He was like a grandpa to all of us girls at the bank. I am so glad I was able to meet him and know him. You all are in my prayers.
