Obituary of Jerry Alvin Hawkins

                                    JUNE 21, 1942  -  SEPTEMBER 25, 2022

Jerry died on September 25, 2022, in Duke Hospital after a brief illness.  He was born to parents Alvin and Elma Laws Hawkins on June 21,1942, in Hurdle Mills, NC.  He graduated from Aycock High School in Cedar Grove, NC in 1960.  He attended High Point College, was a veteran of the US Army and was a retired tobacco farmer.  He was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, son Randy (Pam), granddaughter Keiley, grandson Bailey, all of Hurdle Mills , sisters Sandra Hicks and Karen Purcell (John) of Durham, nephew Jimmy Hankins of California and nieces Sabrina and Selena Purcell of Durham. He was pre-deceased by his father Alvin, mother Elma and sister Dianne Hankins.

The family would like to thank all our friends and family who have loved and supported us during this difficult time.  We also wish to thank all the caring and compassionate staff on oncology floor 9300 and in the medical ICU at Duke Hospital.
