Dear Mark,
I woke up this morning thinking about you. It was a strong feeling to connect after all these years. So I Googled your name, and your son’s obituary was front and center.
Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. I cannot imagine losing a child. I am reading the tributes here. He had a lot of his father in him it seems - a daredevil regarding life and a tender soul. Sounds familiar.
I will hold space for you in my thoughts and prayers as you and your family grieve.

Oh Eric. The soccer crazed, competitive little boy I met in 1st grade. I have so many memories of you, one of the first being when you said "I'm not afraid of consequences" while standing in line outside the lunchroom at school. That was EXACTLY the type of person you were- fearless and outspoken. We went from elementary school friends, to hanging out at the movies near your house, to you being a part of our friend group. The first time I ever spoke to Yolanda was with you on a 4 way call. So many nights spent riding around in that damn yellow tracker (which was your pride and joy), countless late nights at Megan's, concerts we went to, you and Richard sleeping in Megan's closet which was one of my favorites and just a testament to the type of friendship we all had. I have a few more that aren't mine to share but I love them all the same. You were wild, sometimes an asshole lmao but you loved your friends deeply. My heart is broken for all those who loved you in the same regard. Your hugs were the best and I will always remember you with that shit eating grin. Regardless of time or distance, you have always held a place in all of our hearts. I hope you're at peace. We love you always red. ♡
Holly, please know Eric had so many friends here in Rome who loved him. We were able to see him one last time, a few years ago when he was here visiting. We are all thinking of you and the rest of his family. ♡

For the Sanchez Vega family it was a great shock to have received such sad news, Eric for us was that person we met at work but over the months he became a friend, he had that peculiar way of making us go one step further, it was that Teams call at eleven at night that ended at 2 or 3 in the morning where we talked not only about work life but also about everyday life.
Eric was that person who if he admired you, would let you know it, he would tell you things up front and without fear of what people would say.
He will always be remembered as an excellent colleague, friend and above all as a great person, we will miss your outstanding questions in every all-hands meeting.
Farewell, my friend, farewell.

I feel thankful and lucky to have met Eric; he was always willing to help, teach, and speak his mind.
I will never forget our "quick calls" in which we ended up talking about everything. I'm sad to have had so little time with him, but I will cherish his memory.

There are truly no words to express the immense loss this is to the world. Eric truly shaped my life in such a way I could never describe. We have so many countless memories I don’t even know where I’d start. Thankful that even when he left Rome we stayed in touch as if he was right down the street. We shared many stores of childhood and brought those crazy lessons we learned into our adult lives. Recently we had been planning a trip to get together to relive those younger years. I’m sad that we won’t get that opportunity but I have a beautiful angel watching over me. As I’ve mentioned in my conversations the last few days…I truly don’t think I have ever had a friend like my wild red Eric and truthfully I never will. I’ll miss the debates, the harassing if I didn’t pick up after one ring, the way he could pull me out of any mood with just one word sometimes. I’ll miss him forever…I’m going to make the best of this life Eric in your honor. I’ll see you again someday. Love youuuuu kid.
To Eric’s Mom and Dad, your son was a beautiful light in this world to all of us and it feels just a bit darker without him. Sending love and prayers to all of you. ❤️

Eric was a great peer and friend. He was always willing to help and share his knowledge. He was funny, easy going and kind. It was so sweet to end a call with him calling you dear.
We will truly miss him.
