Obituary of Jo Lynn Savery

Jo Lynn Howell Savery April 11, 1941 - August 25, 2012 Jo Lynn Howell Savery, of Chapel Hill, died peacefully at UNC Hospitals. A graduate of Mary Washington College, Jo Lynn also did graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in biology and computer science. After raising her three children in Chapel Hill with husband Rex Talcott Savery, Jr., Jo Lynn opened Full Spectrum, a copy center, graphic design and gift store in Timberlyne Shopping Center in 1990. She is well remembered by the many customers and fellow business owners of Timberlyne Shopping Center, and spent many happy and fulfilling years there operating a business uniquely suited to her talents and interests. She closed the store and retired from business in 2005. Jo Lynn was born and grew up in Suffolk, Virginia. She is survived by her son, Rex Talcott Savery III (Trip) and wife Melanie Burton Savery (Dolly) of Charlotte, and their children Hayden Elizabeth Savery and Harrison Rand Savery; daughter Susan Hayden Savery of Alexandria, Virginia; son Robert Philip Savery, and partner Anthony Maready (Andy) of Durham; and her brother Dr. Donald Sherman Howell and wife Shirley Howell of Suffolk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Hayden Harris Howell, and Sherman Gustave Howell, of Suffolk, Virginia. A service will be held in the Chapel at Walker's Funeral Home in Chapel Hill on Thursday, August 30 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately before the service at 1 p.m. in the Walker's Funeral Home parlor. The service will be followed by a private family burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and administrators at UNC Hospitals, and Carolina House of Chapel Hill for all of their care and support.
