Obituary of Ruth Mary Tatro

On August 10^th, 2022, this world lost a source of kindness & love for everyone, Ruth “Mary” Tatro (66) was known to be a strong, fearless, and loving woman. She lived by Christian example to extend empathy to everyone and never met a stranger she wouldn't help.  Our beloved mother, nanny, sister, aunt, and friend is reunited with her Lord and Savior.

Mary was a native of Orange County, NC. where she lived all her life. When in good health, Mary attended Friendly Hills Baptist Church. Mary was the middle child of seven children, but she was the matriarch of her family. Her most cherished gift was time spent with those she loved. Her passion for preserving sentimental cards, awards, pictures, and school work in albums will give laughter & happy memories for her family to cherish & bond over during this time of loss.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Angie Gentry (Lathan) of Hillsborough, three grandchildren, Anthony Wagner of Mebane, Lauren Roney (Michael) of Burlington, and Ethan Gentry of Hillsborough, and one great-grandson whom she loved dearly, Mason Roney. Her loving siblings: Dot Williams (Willie) of Mebane, William Tatro of Hillsborough, Betty Faulkner of Rougemont, and Brenda Phillips (Wayne) of Hillsborough, and sole surviving aunt, Jean Key of West Virginia, And many, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her longtime companion Thomas “Frankie” Durham, her parents, Fred and Ruth Tatro, and her sisters, Ann Williams and June Austin.

 Visitation for Mary will be Saturday August 13, 2022 at Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  Funeral Service for Mary will be Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsborough with burial after the service at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Following the commital service the family will be receiving friends at Mary's home.
