Dave's passing will certainly leave a an empty space in the MacKinnon family. While I was shocked and saddened, he was such a huge personality and amazing story teller that even now, I have difficulty thnking of him without smiling just a little bit. My heart felt condolences to Carole and Dave's family.

I would like to send my condolences to the Kitzmiller family. Mr. Kitzmiller was a teacher when I attended Northwood High School Class of '76. God Bless the family. Prayers for peace and comfort during your loss. I have included a photo of Mr. Kitzmiller taken from the '76 Northwood Yearbook.

My husband, Johnny Ray Baldwin, adored this gentleman. Having been raised by a single mother(who did an extraordinary job), Mr. K played a huge role for Johnny as one of just a few positive male role models in his life. Johnny cried upon learning this news today. Kim worked with my beautiful late mother, Suzanne Quinn Conner, for many years and my brother-in-law Paul Miskow worked with her husband. Until this morning, I never realized the elaborate interconnectedness of your family with mine. Thank you most of all for helping forge my husband into the husband and father he is. Imagine all the endless ripples that flow from Mr. K's life.

It is with great sorry to learn of David's (Kitz) passing. He was a very kind man who thought the world of others. I had the privilege of working for David running Franklin Street Bar & Grill from its inception. His Friday night dinners were off the chain..where he would entertain numerous couples and patrons with his wit and humor. My thoughts are with the family mourning Dave's final retirement.

I’ll never forget Mr. Kitzmiller. He was my drivers ed teacher at Northwood. I remember one time driving on Old 87 and drove off the edge of the pavement for a second and he said “Don’t worry about it, even Richard Petty runs off the road once in a while.” He made me feel so at ease. Condolences to all his family. He was a good man who was not afraid of change and adventure. Such admirable qualities in a person.

In the mid-70s Mr Kitzmiller was my driver's ed teacher. I was just speaking about him 3 days ago how he taught me the "What if' game while you are driving. He said drive in such a manner and always think "What if" a kid darted out behind that car would you be able to stop and time. I never forgot that. Thank you Mr Kitzmiller, your friend and student Riley Horne

I was a student at Northwood High School while he was a teacher there. He was always nice to me, and he always cared about his students education. I also patronized He's Not Here many times and shared many laughs with him. He will be missed. Prayers for the family.

I was a student at Pittsboro High School when Mr. Kitzmiller coached the JV football team and helped with the varsity as well. I remember injuring my shoulder in a game and riding back home with him. Later, he had me over to his house for dinner. He was a great guy and I am sure he left an impression on many of his students and athletes.

What a great photo of a remarkable man. He always impressed me as the kind of person that was going to live his life to the fullest and after reading this tribute, I know he did. Dave was a kind person who cherished the loves in his life-including those with four legs.
My sympathies to Carole and Kim and his whole extended family who were also such an integral part of his life.
Dave will be missed.
