Obituary of Trudy Kale Compton

Mebane, North Carolina – Trudy Kale Compton, of Mebane, North Carolina, loving and dedicated wife of Thomas Vincent Compton, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 25, 2022 surrounded by beloved family. A celebration of her glorious life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at CrossLink Community Church (3445 Old Hillsborough Road, Mebane, NC 27302). A Graveside Burial will be held at 3:00pm at Crossroads Presbyterian Church (3302 NC 119 North, Mebane, North Carolina 27302).

Born in Mebane, North Carolina, Trudy was the eldest daughter of the late Tisha Holland Kale and Thomas Lawson Kale. She graduated from Orange High School and East Carolina University, and worked for many years as a teacher before transitioning to being a stay-at-home mom and ardent and selfless volunteer.

In addition to her husband, Trudy is survived by her two sons, a daughter-in law, a granddaughter, four younger sisters and a sister-in-law. Her eldest son, Andrew Christopher Compton, and his wife Deborah Papworth, live in New York, New York and are parents to Amélie Grace Papworth Compton. Her youngest son Philip Kale Compton lives in Mebane, North Carolina. In addition, Trudy is survived by her sisters Teresa Kale, Tina Cates, Tracey Harrill and Taren Basnight as well as her sister-in-law Patricia Compton. 

A lover of books, and with a deep Christian faith conviction, Trudy lived a life of grace, compassion, kindness, unconditional love, and humility. It was glorious to witness her ability to connect with and support those who were most in need. Well done on a life well lived to a good and faithful servant, dear beautiful Trudy. You will be greatly missed by your family and friends. We love you the whole world full, the whole sky full, a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.
