Obituary of Alice Dickey Moize
Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice Dickey Moize, age 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022. Her final days were spent comfortably in her home surrounded by family and friends.
Alice was born on May 24, 1938 in Hillsborough, North Carolina to the late Joseph Ira Dickey and Sue Dickey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step mother, Pauline Dickey; first husband, Lowell Sessoms; and older sister, Kathleen Oakley. Alice is survived by her husband, Edward Moize; her siblings Freeman Dickey, Bill Dickey and wife Edna, John Dickey and wife Mary Lou, and Faye Burgner and husband Chuck; her nephews Richard Burgner and wife Susie, Hans Burgner and wife Misty; and her great nieces Emily Alexander and husband Justin, and Erin Burgner and Fiance Trevor Sigler.
Alice grew up on the farm with her siblings where she kept the chickens, worked in the tobacco fields, and helped her mother in the kitchen. She always loved to cook for her family, some of her specialties including her butter beans, creamed potatoes, and pecan pie. You never left her home without a full belly and a smile.
Alice retired from her job at Liggett & Myers in 1995 where she met her husband Edward. What started out as two colleagues carpooling to work, ended in their marriage on April 9th, 1982. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening with her husband, sitting in her rocking chair by the fire place, and spending time caring for her great nieces and nephews.
Alice was a loving wife, sister, and aunt that will be desperately missed by those she’s left behind, but we know she is now happy and healthy in the arms of the Lord.
