OBITUARY DEPARTMENT

HILLSBOROUGH - Harry Franklin Davis passed away September 1, 2012 at home after a courageous fight with cancer.
Harry was born February 3, 1942 in Canton, Ohio, preceded in death by his parents Harold Fredrick Davis and Virginia Wood Davis. Harry grew up in St. Augustine, Florida. He joined the US Air Force in 1959 and served his country for, as he liked to say, 7 years, 9 months and 23 days. After his discharge from the Air Force he went to work for IBM until retirement.
Harry and family moved to North Carolina in 1977 and settled in Hillsborough in 1988. Harry was active in the Hillsborough United Methodist Church, and community activities. He was involved in Boy Scouts for over 30 years. In his retirement Harry enjoyed wood working, gardening and bee keeping.
Harry's faith in God, love for his family and his church family carried him through this difficult time.
Harry is survived by his wife Marilyn Quigg Davis of 47 years. Daughter, Diana Davis and husband John Stellwagen, Beverly, MA, sons, Doug Davis, Durham, NC and Zack Davis of the home.
Family includes: brother-in-law William W. Quigg (deceased) wife Shirley Quigg, Jefferson City, MO, sisters-in-law, Virginia Quigg Denham, husband Gene Denham, Joplin, MO, Mildred C. Quigg and partner Deena Raihl, Little Rock, AR, Linda Quigg Tiffany, Eden Prairie, MN.
Nieces and nephews: Debbie Denham, Kyle Denham and wife Kathy Denham, Carol Denham Mailes and husband Dennis Mailes, Pam Quigg Henrickson and husband Alden Henrickson, Peggy Quigg and partner Suzanne Hughes. Phyllis Quigg Edson and husband Jim Edson, William Quigg and wife Suzie Quigg, Makala Dawson and Trep Dawson, and eighteen great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all their friends for the many cards, visits, and prayers, and Hillsborough United Methodist Church for the prayer quilt, prayer shawl and all the assistance to the family.
A memorial service will be held September 15, 11:00AM at Hillsborough United Methodist Church led by Rev. Al Horne.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Harry Davis to Hillsborough United Methodist Church.
