Jim was a true friend! I got to know Jim while a coach and administrator of the HYAA program. Our families became very close and spent a lot of time together on and off the ball fields. Jim was a great coach, the kind you want your kids to play for. Compassionate, knowledgeable, expecting, and loving. He was the same type of friend. Politically Jim and I often disagreed but we always held each other accountable (him holding me accountable more often than me holding him accountable) and respected the other's opinions. Whether we were on the ball field, at a staffing party, running into each other in town, or at Topsail we were always laughing and having fun. Jim made that possible. Life sometimes gets in the way of spending time with those that we love and whose company we enjoy. I'm sorry I can't make up that time and spend more time with Jim. Jim, you are loved and missed. To the boys and Jeannine, we love you and are here for you!

Jim was a friend, the best kind. While I only had a small precious amount of time in his company, I valued him as a true friend. As a coach he was always willing to give his time to the youth in the Hillsborough, NC area. He will be missed. My best to Janiene and boys.

My heart goes out to the family! Coach Dailey taught me a lot on the basketball court and about life. Because of Coach Dailey I became a basketball Coach and a mentor! That's what he was to me and I'm forever grateful to have him as a fond memory in my life. I love you Dailey Family.

I’m so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. My condolences to his family and friends. I’d like to share a memory of Jim. We went to the same grade school and became friends. I was always bringing stray animals home and my parents wouldn’t let me keep my latest cat rescue. They took it to the humane society. Jim found out and suggested we break in and rescue the cat. We went to break into the building and noticed a door was open in the back, so we snuck in found the cat and hurried out of the building. One of Jim’s neighbors took the cat. Many years later Jim sent a message on Facebook asking if I was his partner in crime in stealing the cat. Jim was one of the funniest people I’ve ever known.

I am so sorry about Jim's passing. I met him in grade school at St. John's the Baptist, many, many years ago in Erie. Have not seen him in years but we stayed in contact thru Facebook. Again I am truly sorry. My condolences to his family.

My favorite memories are of both Jim and Janiene. I loved to watch both basketball and baseball games with them. But Janiene wouldn’t always sit near Jim at the games. His trash talk to the refs drove her nuts. I always wanted to sit with her but then I had to give up laughing at Jim’s sayings. Hey ump don’t quit your day job or Hey ref use your good eye to name a few. I’d laugh during those games because of Jim. I want to thank Jim for being such a good man and coach. Thank you for loving the Brink boys and all the kids you came into contact with. Thanks for Rocking the Pool. Thank you for your friendship. We will miss you. Love Kathy and Doug Brink
