Patricia Lynn Butler (March 21, 1967 – May 15, 2022)
Patricia Lynn (Barnes) Butler died May 15, 2022 at her home in Carrboro, NC.
She was born March 21, 1967 in Pascagoula, MS and is the beloved daughter of Frank and Ann Barnes of Chapel Hill, NC.
Growing up in a military family she lived in a number of states, as well as Midway Island, where ”Patty” proved at age 4 that she could ride a two wheel bike, Greece where she was excited to take horseback riding lessons, and Saudi Arabia which provided her the opportunity to experience a different culture.
Patricia graduated with honors in 1985 from Orange Park High school in Orange Park, FL and then attended Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, where she earned a dual degree in computer science and international business. A minor in French included a wonderful semester in France.
She was a member of the music ministry at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, when living in Orange Park, FL.
Patricia provided editorial comments in the publication of a Care Book for parents with a child affected by the same disorder that her youngest sister had.
She was a member of Compassionate Friends of Chapel Hill, NC.
Following college graduation she was employed by EDS in KY, TX, MA, PA and NC. She was married to David Butler, a co-worker at EDS and left EDS in 2001 to take care of their 3 young children. The tragic death of their firstborn, Matthew James Butler, precipitated the end of their marriage. Patricia’s youngest sibling, Megan Elizabeth Barnes, also preceded her in death.
As well as her parents, survivors include her son, Jacob Butler, and daughter, Tristan Butler. Both live in Chapel Hill, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Jennifer Barnes of Colorado Springs, CO, and her brother, Sean Barnes of Cary, NC and many more relatives.
Funeral Services will be private. Online condolences may be sent to Patricia’s family by visiting www.walkerfuneralservice.com

Surely she was welcomed with joy at heaven’s gate by her oldest son and youngest sister; and others too now in heaven, who cared about her and she about them.
