Obituary of Julius Calvin Johnson

Julius Calvin Johnson, Sr. passed away on April 16, 2022 surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was the oldest child of J. C. and Nancy Reid Johnson, both deceased from Efland, NC. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Elaine Miller Johnson, for 59 years. Calvin retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. He and Elaine built a successful septic tank pumping business of which he was very proud. Health reasons led to the sale of his business in 2006. After retirement he spent many years hanging out at Finley Farm and was lovingly referred to as shop/farm supervisor.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Julius Calvin "Johnny" Johnson, Jr. (Stephanie), and daughters, Ronda Johnson Baldwin (Glen) and Suzanne Johnson Finley (Stephen). Grandchildren: Christopher Johnson (Cathy), Thomas Johnson (Adriana), Zachary Baldwin (Hayley), Amelia Baldwin Berry (Jason), Natalie Baldwin Smith (Gabriel), Gracie Finley and Kellie Finley. Great-grandchildren: Savannah and Jessie Berry, Halie, Jacob Calvin and Connor Johnson, Isaac Johnson, and Claire Elaine Baldwin, Siblings: Sherry Bradley (Charles) and Steve Johnson. Additional survivors are many nephews, nieces, and dear cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Zane Johnson Copple along with her children Danny and Amy Copple.
He was a Ruling Elder and member of Eno Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Cedar Grove Men's Fellowship Breakfast Group in Cedar Grove, N.C. He was a lifelong lover of FORD trucks, International Tractors, Bluegrass Music and homemade ice cream. He was devoted to his wife and family as well as a true friend and role model for those he met.
Visitation will be at Eno Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Eno Presbyterian Church with burial following the service by Rev. Chris Grill.
