Obituary of Lizzie Charity Chikwanda

Please share a memory of Lizzie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lizzie (Liz) Charity Chikwanda beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and colleague passed away Saturday, March 5 , 2022 at her home in Chapel hill. Liz was born in Lusaka, Zambia on January 27, 1976 to Godwin N. Chikwanda and Winifreda P. Chikwanda.

Liz graduated from Kabulonga Secondary School in lusaka in 1993. She relocated to the United States in 1999 to attend college. Liz was a graduate of Montgomery Community college in Maryland, University of North Carolina at Chapel hill and North Carolina at Central University. A holder of a masters degree in social work, Liz worked in the Care Management unit at the UNC hospitals.

Liz was a devoted mother to her two beautiful children , Juliana, 16,  and Gordon, 7.  She was an amazing aunt to several nieces and nephews, a dependable loving daughter, sister and friend. Liz is preceded in death by her mother Winnie Chikwanda.

Liz was beautiful, kind, vibrant, caring, witty and always wore the most beautiful smile. She was a good listener, and always provided thoughtful advice. She loved to spend time with her family by simply having meals or just relaxing together on the weekends or taking vacations together. All this was always captured on camera; Liz never missed an opportunity to take a picture! Her love for pictures has left forever lasting memories which we will treasure. In her spare time, Liz enjoyed reading, writing, painting, listening to music (she was the family disc jockey!) baking and watching tv shows from the 70s & 80s. Go well our Lizzie, you will forever be in our hearts.❤️
