Obituary of Armp Lenwood Strum

Rev. Armp Lenwood Strum, age 94, formerly of Hillsborough die March 3, 2022 in Burlington.

He was born September 7, 1927, in Orange County.  The son of the late Fletcher and Mary Viola Brown Strum.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Oscar Strum, Melvin Strum, sisters, Stella Adams, Mandy Wheely, and Hazel Wagner.

He was a veteran of WWII, joining the Navy at age 17 for 3 years.  He graduated from Hillsborough High School.   He was a minister in the East District of the Wesleyan Church and pastured at Wesleyan Churches in this area.

He was employed for 40 years at the Durham Morning Herald/Sun Newspaper, retiring in 1992.

Rev. Strum is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lucille Whicker Strum, a daughter Sheila Albertson (Tommy) of High Point, Gregory Strum (Karen) of Iron Station.  Grandchildren, Lynn Personius (Bobby) of Gibsonville, Kelly Caligan (Will) of McLeansville, David Strum (Penny) of Iron Station, and Tommy Albertson, Jr. (Christy) of Stoneville.  Great-grandchildren, Joshua Page (Michelle), Emily Siler, Andrew, Olivia, and Ava Albertson, Jake and Logan Caligan.

Funeral service will be held at Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough on Sunday March 6, 2022 at 3:00 PM Officiating:  Rev. Tommy Albertson, Jr.  Burial will follow in the Hillsborough Town Cemetery.  Family will receive friends at Walker’s Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.  

The family would like to express their thanks to Community Hospice caregivers especially Jean Love and Aleisha Whitsett.
