Obituary of Harvey Barbour

Durham County Durham - Harvey Barbour, Jr., 88, departed this life on Friday, September 28, at Duke University Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1924, in Johnson County and was the son of the late Harvey Barbour and Vera Ferrell Barbour. Mr. Barbour was educated in Durham City schools and was retired from Burlington Industries and was a realtor. He will be remembered with love and admiration by his family, many friends, and colleagues. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barbour was preceded in death by a beloved son, Johnny Dean Wall, a sister, Edna Mills Gandy, brothers, Rupert Earl Barbour and Merlie Vann Barbour. He is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Coleen Parker Barbour of the home; daughter, June Barbour Johnson and husband Rev. Jerry Johnson of Aulander; sons, Robert Larry Barbour of Greenville; Richard Barry Barbour and wife Kathy of Efland; Howard Milton Barbour and wife Brenda of Durham; Ronnie Stephen Wall and wife Sherry of Cedar Grove; his grandchildren, Richie Barbour and wife Carie , Brad Barbour and wife Bree, Wayne Stephenson, Paul Stephenson, Tiffany Wall, Erin Wall, his great grandchildren, Lawson Barbour, Dane Barbour, Blake Barbour, Lily Barbour; a sister, Viola Latta Combs; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM on Sunday, September 30, at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 PM at First Pentecostal Church, 2008 Carver St., Durham, with the Rev. Johnny Godair officiating.
