Obituary of Carmell LaRue Hardee

Carmell LaRue Hardee passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2021. She is preceded by her parents Josephine Allen Davis, Roy Allen and Chester Davis her stepdad. She was also preceded by her husband Jacob Carson Hardee, daughter Patricia Newton Stanley, sister Eva Mae Harris and two brothers Baby Allen and Jasper Allen.
Mrs Hardee is survived by sons Charlie Thomas “ Tommy” Newton of Winston Salem and Steve Dale Hardee of Chapel Hill and daughter Cindy Hardee Merritt (Wesley) of Hillsborough and her grandsons Spencer Wesley Merritt of Cary and Connor Jacob Merritt of Carrboro. She also is survived by two sisters Edna Beck of Wake Forest and Norine Smith of Franklinton. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hardee spent 35 years along with Frances Rives operating their Day care Service which was called "Playschool Nursery". She also enjoyed running a ceramic shop in her basement along with selling jewelry and sweaters. She enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, Hawaii and taking cruises. Mrs. Hardee loved going to North Myrtle Beach to stay at their beach home. She enjoyed working in her yard with the flower gardens. She loved shopping at the local malls and outlets to find a deal.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, in Westwood Cemetery, Carrboro, NC.
The family would like to express great thanks to The Hospice Folks from Cary and The Native American Angels ((Ms. Vicki) that was our personal angel in LaRue's care. We also had great neighbors such as Sandy, Mindy and Scott who were our extra eyes and ears in helping us take care of our Mom. Thank you Dr. Scagnelli with your guidance with the diagnosis and treatment of her illness.
