Ann Dansby passed away peacefully at Chatham Ridge Assisted Living after an extended illness.
Ann was raised on a small farm in Monroe, NC and made her way to Chapel Hill in the mid 60’s with her husband (of 63 years) “Buddy” Dansby. While her primary job was raising three children, she had many pursuits outside of managing a household. Trained as a florist she was a proverbial green thumb. Her impressive Iris beds were featured in bloom many times in the Chapel Hill Newspaper. She also did regular floral decorations for St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church for many years. She was an early and long-time member of WomanCraft and was well known around Chapel Hill for her unique Children’s Halloween Costumes as well as a menagerie of handmade stuffed toys including: dolls, opossums, giraffes, dragons and baby ducks. She was also featured in the Chapel Hill Newspaper for these artistic skills.
Ann is survived by her three children and their spouses: Cynthia of Brooklyn NY, Curt of Charlotte, NC and Karen of Pittsboro, NC. as well as her two grandchildren Max and Eliza Griffin. She is also survived by her only sibling, Glenn McRorie of Monroe.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Chatham Ridge and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their incredible caring and kindness at a difficult time.
Out of an abundance of caution during the ongoing pandemic, the family will not have a service at this time.
