Obituary of Frances Coleman

Frances Wilson Woods Coleman, 104, of Schley Community, Orange County, North Carolina, passed into eternity on September 4, 2021, in Hillsborough, N C. She was born March 4, 1917 to Charles Nelson Woods and Aurelia Wilson Woods of Orange County, North Carolina. She attended a two room schoolhouse in the Schley community with her siblings.  In 1936, Frances married Alonzo Brown Coleman, Sr. They were married for 50 years before he died in 1986.  Frances was predeceased by her parents, a beloved son-in-law, Ray C. Phillips, and her nine siblings: William Doak Woods, Emeline Woods Apple, Nancy Woods Davis, Louise Hughes Woods, Charles Woods, John Woods, Fred Woods, Ada Woods Auten Wheeler and Grace Woods Linderman.   She is survived by her children: Alonzo B. Coleman, Jr. of Hillsborough (Nancy), Frances Coleman Phillips of Hillsborough, Marianna Coleman Abashian (Mark) of Kansas City, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.  Funeral arrangements are by Walker’s Funeral Home of Hillsborough, N C. A graveside service will be held at the Coleman Family Cemetery, September 25, 2021 at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to Duke Hospice.
