Obituary of Needham Price Layton

Mr. Needham P. Layton, 91, of Mebane, passed away at his home surrounded by his daughters on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was born in Durham County on August 29, 1930 to the late Austin H. Layton and Mary Douglas Layton, both deceased. Mr. Layton was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mebane.

Mr. Layton is survived by four daughters; Vanessa Layton Moore and husband Brice, Celeste Layton Webster, Tina Layton Ashley and husband Larry and Tammy Layton Sykes. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brooke Moore Buchman and husband Chad, Addie Modlin and husband David, Eve Clubb and husband Nathan, Kevin Layton Ashley, Justin Dixon, Luke Sykes and Teresa Sartin. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Parker Buchman, Bodie Modlin, Isla Modlin, Ruby Schon, Gracelyn Clubb, Layken Sykes and Caleb Sartin. Mr. Layton was preceded in death by one granddaughter, LeAnna Ashley, one son-in-law, Ricky Sykes and also two brothers, William and Eugene Layton and one sister, Mable Braxton.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Orange United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends at Walker’s Funeral Home of Mebane on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.
