Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Calvert

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Calvert was born May 19, 1937 in Elbridge, NY to William Elijah and June Rhea Eastman. She graduated Skaneateles High School in 1954 and earned her Registered Nursing degree from Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia in May 1957. She married Robert “Bob” Owen Calvert on June 22, 1957. Betty and Bob had four children born in Ohio: Ellen Lynn, Robert Owen, Jr.,Susan Elizabeth (deceased), and Thomas William. They lived in Ohio, Virginia, Georgia and North Carolina, making lifelong friends everywhere they moved. Betty’s nursing career ranged from pediatrics to geriatrics. Betty and Bob retired in 1988 to Wilmington, NC where they enjoyed travel, visiting friends and family and enjoying time with grandchildren. Following Bob’s death Dec. 18, 1995, Betty remained in Wilmington, active in Wilmington United Methodist Church, traveling and above all, enjoying annual gatherings of her dearest nursing school classmates.
In 1999, Betty visited her childhood hometown and remet a dear friend from her teenage youth fellowship group, Richard Frost. Betty and Richard married in Wilmington November 18, 2000. They split their time between New York and North Carolina until 2002 when they moved permanently to the Skaneateles area. Betty and Richard enjoyed their 22 years together traveling, helping others, serving in their church and visiting friends and family. At the end of 2020, Betty and Richard moved into Betty’s daughter’s home in Hillsborough, NC with Betty passing away July 3, 2021.
Betty is survived by her husband Richard, children: Ellen and Tim Holody, Bob and Sara Calvert, and Tom Calvert, grandchildren: Susan and Andre Little, Kimberly and Charles Hatcher, Bob Calvert, and Jason Calvert, great grandchildren: Blake Fearrington, Roman Stephens, Samantha Little, and Gideon Hatcher. Betty is also survived by siblings: George Eastman, Tom and Cindy Eastman, Karen, Pam, and Lori. Richard’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren also survive Betty, who they generously loved and cared for.
Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough and Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington are handling Betty’s final arrangements. Following a graveside ceremony, Betty will be buried next to Bob Calvert in Oleander Memorial Gardens at 10am on Wed. July 7. A Memorial Service will be held at United Christian Church of Marietta, NYat 11am on Sat., July 10.
