ROXBORO - Joy Elaine Grant, 61, died on November 2, 2012 at Person Memorial Hospital. The daughter of the late Oliver "Bodge" Grant and Alma Jewel Grant, Joy was born on April 22, 1951 in McAlester, OK.
Joy graduated from McAlester High School in 1969. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Grant and her former husband, Richard Waldeck.
Joy leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughter, Misti Waldeck and her wife, Jodie Lessnau of Reno, NV, two sisters, Eulene Hamilton of Argyle, TX and Beverly Kitchens and her husband Charles of Shawnee, OK; three nieces, Kristen Keeth of Dallas, TX, Charla Kitchens of Tecumseh, OK, and Kimberli LaShum and her husband Edward of Shawnee, OK; one nephew, David Hamilton of Dallas, TX; one great niece, LaShawn Hamilton of Tahlequah, OK, two great nephews, Jordan Hamilton of McAlester, OK, and Michael Kitchens and his wife Alison, of Oklahoma City, OK; two very dear friends Jackie Haney, Salisbury, NC, and Shirley Andrews, Roxboro, NC, as well as numerous close friends and extended family members.
Joy had a very loving and generous heart. Her smile could light up a room and it was contagious. She was full of life and everyone loved being around her. Joy made everyone happy. Whether it was a funny joke, her positive attitude, or her big smile, Joy was a delight to be around. Her family will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have shared their lives with her.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro for their support in her final days.
