Obituary of Wilhelma W. Farr

Wilhelma (Helma) Farr died in her home on May 31, 2021 in Chapel Hill, NC. She was 86 years old.

Helma was born on June 24, 1934 in Krefeld, Germany.  She married LT Col Robert R. Farr in 1956 and was a proud military wife for many years. They settled in Chapel Hill, NC in 1984 and have been loyal Tar Heel fans ever since. Helma raised 8 children, was an avid polka music fan, and a talented knitter. She loved her cuckoo clocks, impressive nutcracker collection and her deck full of flowers. 

Helma is survived by her husband, Lt. Colonel Robert R. Farr (RET) three sons - Robert (Beth) of Linden, NC; Douglas (Christy) of Holly Springs, NC; Jeffrey (Joyce) of Fayetteville, NC, and her five daughters - Carmen Burcham of Willow Springs, NC; Claudia Farr of Yorktown, VA; Corinna (Jeff) Helms of Amelia Courthouse, VA; Cassandra (Michael) Pickett of Warrenton, VA, and Mausi (Jeff) McDaniel of Coral Gables, FL. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and her beloved Shih-Tzu, Barney. 

The family is accepting visitors on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 12:30- 1:45pm at Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. The memorial service will follow at 2pm, succeeded by the burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
