I saw my Uncle only infrequently throughout my life but each time, I found a man of great character, richly deserving of my respect. He never seemed to change and somehow seemed eternal, like he would always be there. It saddens me to find that he was human like the rest of us but he will live on in the hearts and minds of those of us who knew and loved him. My Mom always refers to him as "The General" and I had occasion to visit with him when he was "Generalling" in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy. We went out and played golf together and he was a much better golfer than I. It was a good thing I had an orange ball because it kept trying to disappear in the snow at the edges of the fairways. Soar high Uncle Bob!
