Obituary of Ann Robinson Clayton

Ann Robinson Clayton, 80, of Caldwell, NC died on Saturday September 26th 2020 at Duke Hospital after a sudden illness. Ann was born in Orange County on September 24, 1940 to Otho and Elizabeth Robinson. She grew up working on family farms and playing with her siblings and cousins. She married Millard William Clayton in 1960 and enjoyed 49 years of marriage before Millard passed away in 2010. They had one daughter, Deborah Ann Clayton, whom they loved very much. Ann retired from Duke University Medical Center after 42 years of work as a medical secretary. She loved her work and has many cherished friendships from her time at Duke. In her retirement Ann loved to make jewelry, play cards, and volunteer at the Orange County Senior Center.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Deborah Clayton of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” Clayton and wife Kirsten of Hillsborough, Michelle Clayton of Chicago, IL, and Michael Clayton of Siler City; three great grandchildren, Brendan Clayton of Caldwell, William Clayton of Hillsborough, and Louis Clayton of Hillsborough; three siblings, Robbie Robinson of Goldsboro, Ellen Russell of Chester, VA, and Kitty Hawkins and husband Lathan of Hurdle Mills; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Millard William Clayton (2010), her parents Otho and Elizabeth Robinson, and her brother David Robinson.
The family is holding a graveside service at Little River Presbyterian Church on October 4th 2020 at 2pm. The family asks that attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing where possible while at the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little River Presbyterian Church Cemetery or the Orange County Senior Center.
