Zachary James Taylor, 33, died unexpectedly at his home on August 5, 2020 in Chapel Hill, NC.

Zac was born on June 15, 1987 in Durham, NC to Cindy Mayes and Ron Taylor. He graduated from Chapel Hill High School, and attended Durham Technical Community College, UNC Charlotte, and The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham. He was self-employed.

Zac loved being outdoors, enjoying life with his sweet pit bull, Ruby, he also enjoyed rock climbing, scuba diving, jet skiing, white water rafting, camping, lifting weights, cycling, and kayaking.  He had a passion for cars and dreamed of being a race car driver. He especially enjoyed bonfires and spending time with his many friends.  From the age of one-month old, Zac loved his time with his paternal grandparents, Carolyn and Sam Taylor, at Cherry Grove Beach, SC.

Zac was truly a kind, loving person and especially loved his grandmother, Carolyn. He was very loyal and caring.  He was a carefree spirit, living life to the fullest, and when he set his mind on something, he was incredibly determined.  Zac was not afraid of anything and loved to drive his cars and motorcycle. Zac was strong-willed and truly knowledgeable about everything, his sister referring to him as a “walking encyclopedia”.

Zac is survived by his mother, Cindy Mayes Taylor of Chapel Hill, NC; father, Ronald Taylor of North Myrtle Beach, SC; his sister, Morgan Taylor of Conway, SC; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carolyn Buice Taylor; his paternal grandfather, Sam Taylor; and his maternal grandfather, Everette Mayes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice in Zac’s memory.
