I fondly remember Bob Mason when I met him at the offices of Time-Life Books in Alexandria, Virginia to bring my portfolio of photographs. He kept calling in more staff members to look at my work. Feeling inspired by the interview, I'd stop by to say hello when I was in Alexandria. He was such a lovely man.
There are no words to express my sympathy for his family, former colleagues and friends.
Just know his spirit is still alive.
You may find it healing to write him a letter telling him how much he meant to you. Ask him to leave you "signs" when his spirit is near, and to visit you in your dreams.
There are no easy ways to let go of anyone. He lived a full life and was a positive influence on anyone who met hims.
Be at peace.
