I recall helping Brad learn to ride his bike, he was 6 and I was 8. We cut Snoopy out of scrap plywood with a sabre saw the next year. Tonka was our favorite make of construction equipment. For our first venture, we tried to sell crayfish from the creek in his yard to the neighbors. There was football, baseball and golf at his house, basketball and archery at mine. We explored the Eno River searching for Taka-Kola bottles, skipping stones, hiking, and fishing. I got a boat at 12. Brad and I ran the boat between the rapids on our part of the river, as if the river was a long, 3-foot deep pond. Brad was a good chess player and we both honed our game on each other. We also played Monopoly, Stratego, and other popular board games. Fred took us to UNC Basketball Games and to see the Harlem Globetrotters. Brad and I built a wooden cart to ride down the hills, and later we built a go-cart from a riding mower we crashed into the Eno River first time out—ruining it for good. Brad was smart, creative, and always ready for an adventure or some new project. At Halloween, we scared the would-be trick-or-treaters with pranks and by jumping out from a tree or bush. Before either of us had a license, we were very interested in cars, especially the 60’s-era muscle cars that would be affordable to us. We began to explore how things worked. We built a lot of the things we played with and took apart other things just to find out how they worked. We built on basic skills we acquired at a fairly early age, and this served us both in our careers. Brad was for me what neither of us had, a brother. We were neighbors for nearly all of our childhoods and Brad was the friend I spent the most time with. Most of my memories of growing up in Hillsborough include Brad. My family left Hillsborough in 1987, and we no longer saw each other very frequently. I last saw Brad in 2001, but we talked on the phone occasionally. Our hearts never changed and we could always catch up in a few minutes. He was a true friend—how blessed I am to have known him. This is a tragic loss for anyone knowing Brad.

I was Brad's father's pharmacist and saw how much he cared for him. Brad referred to him as Pops and he would come into Lloyd's Pharmacy with prescriptions to be refilled or new ones. He made sure that Mr. Claytor not only had his medicine but groceries , doctors'
visits , and he was very particular about the Claytor yard. I knew where Brad worked and cared for O.E. Never once did I hear him
complain about looking after his father nor his job. He was patient waiting for prescriptions and always had something pleasant to
say. It has been a while since I have seen Brad, but he was always a very nice person who I enjoyed seeing. He will be missed by those
with him he worked.

I have been with OE for a very short time and within that short time, Brad has always greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile. Brad, was always eager to provide me with comforting answers to my questions and he was generous with extended information on any issues that I may have been concerned about. Although Brad has made his transition to move towards higher ground his smile and hospitality are now forever imprinted in my mind as I think of him.
May his family and all those who had the opportunity to be touched by this angel continue to smile and remain hospitable.

Brad will be missed. It was impossible not to like him and he made OE a better place every day he was there. He was steady, level headed, and slow to anger unless you tried to hit and run. He didn't like that.
He's left a hole in all our hearts that will be hard to fill

My fondest memories of Brad is all the practical jokes that he played on his coworkers. I was often times the recipient of many of his jokes. I feel that I could write book on all his jokes. Brad had the biggest heart of anyone that I know. He can never be replaced. Love you Brad.

My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Brad's family. I have enjoyed laughing and joking with him about handing over the keys to his Charger when he was tired of it. He would always say, "Not yet!" He has always been kind to me and he will be missed in the OE community.

What a great & caring son, brother & friend.
His Mother has always been my favorite teacher & friend; and when his Dad, Fred Claytor, was Principal at Orange Hi School, I had the privilege of working in the office as on of my classes. All around great family.
