BURLINGTON — Robert Earl Greene, 71, retired, passed away on January 31st, 2013 at White Oak Manor in Burlington. Robert, known to his friends as Bob, was born October 21st, 1941 in Boone.
Bob lived in Ohio when he was younger (son of Earl and Edna Greene) but came to NC in 1959 where he lived the rest of his life. He was predeceased by his wife, Dillya Kay Plummer the love of his life. He was also predeceased by a son, Robert "Bobby" Earl Greene Jr.
Robert served in the US Army for almost six years. He held a variety of jobs over the years while living in NC but the one he was most proud to hold was being a Carrboro police officer. He took pride in upholding the law and treating people with respect.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Robin Blackwood (Tommy) of Efland and Lorrie Moize (Sammy) of Pittsboro; four grandchildren, Crystal Blackwood, Timothy Greene, Sam and Melissa Moize; and five great grandchildren; his two sisters, Susie Carter (Tom) and Anne Carson (Marvin), both of Pittsboro.
A funeral service will be held at Walkers Funeral Home, 120 W. Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2nd. The family will receive friends at Walkers Funeral Home from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Followed by graveside service at Antioch Baptist Church, Whitecross Rd., Chapel Hill.
