There are no words to express our sorrow for you all, Melissa, Brian and Jordan... our hearts and prayers are with you and all your family. Tom is a phenomenal soul... husband, father, uncle, cousin, colleague, and friend! We have been so blessed to have your love and care over the more than 21 years we've known you all. During the most difficult time in our lives with the death of our Michelle, we were supported like family on so many levels. And, since then, in our journey to California to be with our son Sean, you have continued to be family to us. That is just who Tom, you, Brian and Jordan are. Tom's transition from life on earth to life in heaven was swift and so unexpected. We pray that he is with our Lord and all the souls he knows from this world. Melissa and family, It's just so hard to find the words to express how deeply sad this is - and I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Tom and how he swept Melissa off her feet... love was in the air so quickly --- they each found what they had been looking for. Every time I would see Tom after he met Melissa - his smile was bigger and brighter. He (and she) were simply happy -- and we all know that's not always easy to be. My heart goes out to all - may you find peace in all the memories being shared.

So so many wonderful memories of our dear next door neighbors for over 18 years. Brian and Jordan were little guys when the Fitzes moved in...and so very much loved by their folks. When Melissa traveled for work, Tom quietly and lovingly kept the home front going. Tom also mowed our "grass"...or weeds...by Bayberry...as only Tom could do, he did it quietly, never asking for "fanfare" or thanks... What an incredibly beautiful family...always in touch and loving each other...a true "Fitz" team...may we all aspire to that... And the Fitzes always gave us the best UNC Tarheels gifts...so we are lighting a Duke blue candle... With so much love...and great sadness for your loss and ours... B&B
