Paul and I rowed 7 and 8 for most of the '68 season and it was a powerful experience. He had the kind of focus and quiet determination that was contagious. And he ably led a very powerful bunch in the middle of the boat: Gluckman, Lister, Dayton. And we had a great season.
I lost touch with Paul after we left Northeastern, but got reconnected about a decade ago through the magic of the internet. We exchanged some pictures and reminisces that were very meaningful for both of us. We had hoped to share a hotel room for the 50th Anniversary of the NU crew team a few years ago, but his health would not cooperate and I deeply regret we never got together again.
His last row was rough water and headwinds, It is small consolation that he is at rest. A well-deserved "weigh enough!" Number Seven. I will remember you as long as I can remember.
